State Rep. Fred Atchley announces $375K in safety grant awards for Sevier County

State Rep. Fred Atchley, R-Sevierville, announced $375,407 in federal grant funding has been awarded to multiple Sevier County agencies to support highway safety education and enforcement.
The Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) will distribute more than 400 federal grant awards totaling $33.5 million from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across the state.
“First responders are the backbone of our communities and putting more resources in their hands is always a win for public safety,” Atchley said. “This funding will help law enforcement crack down on reckless and impaired driving, while also supporting our District Attorney’s office in holding offenders accountable. I’m proud to support efforts that protect lives and help everyone get home safely.”
Local agencies receiving funds include:
Tennessee District Attorney General, 4th Judicial District: $224,210.50 for DUI prosecution
Sevierville Police Department: $82,000 for impaired driving enforcement
Sevier County Sheriff’s Office: $30,000 for various traffic violation services
Gatlinburg Police Department: $29,196.50 for various traffic violation services
Pigeon Forge Police Department: $10,000 for high visibility enforcement
