Fred Atchley Announces Candidacy for State Representative, District 12

Commissioner Fred Atchley today announced his candidacy for Tennessee State Representative, District 12, bringing a wealth of experience and a lifelong commitment to community service. This seat has been held by retiring State Representative Dale Carr since 2012.


Fred Atchley retired in 2019 as Battalion Chief from the City of Sevierville Fire Department, concluding a remarkable career that began with several years in the Sevier County Sheriff's Office. His dedication to public service extends beyond emergency response, with a notable 25-year tenure as County Commissioner for the fifth district.


Currently serving as the Chairman of the Budget Committee and Vice-Chair for the E911 Board in Sevier County, Atchley has played a pivotal role in local governance, advocating tirelessly for the needs of his constituents.


A graduate of the Leadership Tomorrow (2005) and Leadership Sevier (2019) programs, Atchley earned certification as a Public Administrator in 2019 through the CTAS program at the University of Tennessee, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.


Family values are at the core of Atchley's campaign. Married to Angela Atchley, they share four children and two grandchildren. Atchley is committed to building a better community for every family.


Active in the community, Atchley holds memberships in the Sevier County Republican Party, FOP Lodge #31, and the First Baptist Church of Sevierville, showcasing his commitment to the values that define the community.

District 12 includes Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Pittman Center, part of Sevierville, Seymour, and Wears Valley.
